Samsung has a large grip over Android-based phone markets and some reports published a while ago suggested that Google is concerned about Samsung’s dominance in the market. The more dominance Samsung has in Android market, the more Google is required to pay them. However, a new report from The Korea Times suggests that despite the rumor, both companies still have a close working relationship.
That’s because the Korean newspaper suggests that Google is using Samsung-made OLED displays on its whistle-blowing product, Google Glass, which is yet to hit the stores for consumers.
Google Glass is an important product for Google. It’s a revolution Google is trying to make. People aren’t ready yet to be comfortable with wearable technology. Even people in public place might feel less safer when they’d know there are others wearing Google Glass around them. Some businesses have already banned Glass in their premises. And as many websites reported, Google is still in the process of figuring out how to make Google Glass a perfectly usable and acceptable device despite its many privacy concerns.
For an important product like Google Glass, the company’s dependence on Samsung clearly shows us that regardless of the earlier reports on Google’s concerns over Samsung’s market dominance on Android, the two still have a long way to go as they’ve partnered up for the future of wearable technology.
Glass owners, have you figured out that the display on the right side of your Glass is a Samsung-made OLED display?
